Environmental Business Journal
Strategic Environmental Management
(Vol.XVI No.3/4)

Published July 2003

Strategic environmental management and pollution prevention constitute an elusive part of the environmental market, mainly because a wide range of professionals outside the familiar environmental firms are involved in various SEM and P2 related activities. Many consulting firms indicated in EBJ's survey that their biggest obstacle in marketing SEM is the perception that SEM is not an essential service. Still, many of the large multinational corporations are adopting sustainable business practice for various reasons - public relations, cost-saving, etc.

This issue of EBJ analyzes the current state of SEM, P2 and sustainable development, and profiles various companies involved - from consulting firms to generators. Emission trading and by-product synergies are also discussed.
