Economic growth has been the single most important influence to the environmental industry in recent years. Environmental regulations have not been ruled out as a market driver, but they are no longer treated as an obstacle to economic development, and compliance with the regulations is now an essential part of the economic activities such as real estate development, infrastructure planning and general construction.

As the economic recovery continues, the environmental consulting & engineering market experienced a modest growth in 2004. EBJ learned that the smaller niche players in particular did exceptionally well. This issue of EBJ features the annual C&E market analysis, with freshly collected market data and profiles of firms that share their keys to their success.
